Menu Bar Label · Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated June 28, 2026.
The short version
Menu Bar Label collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no servers of our own. Everything you type and every setting you choose stays on your Mac. We — RainPeak Signals Inc. — never see it.
This policy explains that in a little more detail. It applies to the Menu Bar Label app for macOS. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@rainpeaksignals.com and we will explain.
Data we collect
None. We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information or usage data from people who use Menu Bar Label. No data leaves your device and reaches us, and we operate no server, database, or account system that could receive it.
Accordingly, the app’s App Store privacy information is set to “Data Not Collected.”
What stays on your device
Menu Bar Label saves your preferences on your Mac using macOS’s standard on-device settings storage (UserDefaults). This includes:
- the label text you type;
- appearance choices such as colour, scrolling (marquee), and style;
- any presets you create or use; and
- whether you have unlocked the paid Full Version.
This information is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, this on-device data is removed with it.
The “system info” presets
Some built-in presets can insert details about your Mac — such as your computer name or macOS user name — into your label. When you use one of these presets, that information is read on your device and placed into your label text locally. It is used only on your Mac, is never transmitted off the device, and is never stored externally or shared with anyone.
In-app purchases
Menu Bar Label offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock the Full Version. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and Apple’s StoreKit framework. We do not receive, see, or store your payment details, your Apple Account, or any identifier tied to your purchase — your Mac simply records, on device, that the Full Version is unlocked.
Any information Apple collects to process a purchase is handled under Apple’s Privacy Policy, not this one.
No tracking, analytics, or third parties
Menu Bar Label contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no third-party SDKs beyond Apple’s own StoreKit for the in-app purchase. We do not track you across apps or websites, and there is no data for us to sell, rent, or trade — because we collect none.
Data retention & deletion
We retain no personal data, because none is collected. There is no deletion request to make to us and no account to close. The settings the app stores live on your device under your control; you can change or clear them in the app, and removing the app deletes them.
Canadian privacy law
RainPeak Signals Inc. is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and is subject to British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (BC PIPA) and, where applicable, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Because we do not collect personal information from users of Menu Bar Label, no personal information is collected, used, or disclosed by us under these laws.
Children’s privacy
Menu Bar Label is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — because we do not collect personal information at all.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app works in a way that affects this policy — for example, if a future version were to add a feature that collects data — we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above before that change takes effect, and update the app’s App Store privacy details accordingly.
